With the Irish Arts Center, Outlandish Theatre engaged in a synchronised workshop series on ‘Irish Identity and Irish American identity’ with participants from Dublin 8 and New York.
Within our theoretical framework a Theatre of Ruins, the workshops gave space for diverse perspectives to be explored from an everyday lived and a diaspora perspective. in the Rita Kelly Theatre the participants got a chance to be performer, maker and audience member.
With Outlandish Theatre’s artistic interest in exploring theatrical conventions, inter-media performance, distance and proximity became interesting factors, whilst working remotely with participants from the Irish Arts Center, local to the local.
Dublin 8 consists of many new and old communities. Our work strives to offer a space for diverse perspectives to be expressed, creative dialogue in performativity. In our previous work the complexity of identity as a concept presented itself, with cultural, ethnic, civic, religious and historical complexities.
